A city of religious heritage
Ejmiatsin is a city rich in religious heritage and history. It is recognized for its exceptional architecture and monuments, particularly its Armenian Apostolic Cathedral.
Vision and motivation
Ejmiatsin’s motivation for becoming a Learning City is to ensure long-term learning through membership of UNESCO’s Global Network of Learning Cities (GNLC). This will also afford the city the opportunity to exchange experiences and establish dialogue with member cities.
Challenges and goals
The city’s objective is to foster economic development and cultural prosperity. Further goals include the introduction of measures to increase learning in the workplace and extend the use of modern learning technologies. There is also potential for promoting stronger participation among citizens and intensifying efforts to mobilize and utilize resources.
Plan and implementation
The city will draw on its priorities and challenges to identify the key issues requiring immediate solutions. To do this, the city authorities will work closely with community representatives. Ejmiatsin will create an action plan that will define long-term goals and develop strategies for achieving these goals by examining and taking into account the experiences of other members of the GNLC.
