21 janvier 2014

Experts and regional officials from the Southern African Development Community (SADC) took part in a regional workshop in Stellenbosch, South Africa from 26 to 28 November 2013.

The objective of the workshop was to monitor progress on the implementation of qualifications frameworks and mechanisms for the recognition, validation and accreditation (RVA) of non-formal and informal learning. In setting priorities for joint actions at the regional level, the SADC Secretariat concluded by recommending the finalisation of the draft Regional Qualifications Framework.

Countries took stock of progress in developing RVA schemes in the SADC region, reporting on legal and institutional arrangements, mechanisms for assessment, and quality assurance of certification procedures.

The SADC member states are Angola, Botswana, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Seychelles, South Africa, Swaziland, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
