European Commission Technical Working Group on Financing Adult Learning

15 juin 2013

The European Commission has established two Technical Working Groups (TWG) on Financing and Quality of Adult Learning.  The two groups look at good practices and develop policy guidelines on these themes. The Deputy Director of the UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning (UIL), Ms Carolyn Medel-Anoñuevo, is a member of the TWG  on Financing and attended the 7th meeting in Brussels from 12–13 June 2013.

The meeting consisted of two parts: a workshop on Reskilling, Upskilling – Financial Instruments and Social Partner Agreements and the Technical Working Group meeting. During the workshop, different models of funding for skills training were presented. The second day was devoted to presentations and discussions on 1) the commissioned study on financing of adult learning and  2) draft report of the TWG. The group's work will build on the conclusions of the Workshop on financing adult learning in times of crisis (2010).

The two working groups will have their final meeting at UIL in Hamburg on October 1–2, 2013.
