Le Kenya est une république, membre de l'Organisation de l'Unité Africaine et des Nations du Commonwealth britannique. Il a acquis son indépendance le 12 décembre 1963, après 61 ans de colonisation britannique. A cheval sur l'équateur, le Kenya se situe sur la côte équatoriale de l'Afrique de l'Est. La superficie de 582 646 Km comprend 13 396 Km de lacs intérieurs. L'Ethiopie et le Soudan sont les pays voisins du Nord, à l'Ouest se trouve l'Ouganda, au Sud la Tanzanie; la Somalie et l'Océan Indien constituent la frontière Est.

This book will help to promote literacy by raising understanding and awareness of family literacy in Africa. It shows that a variety of experiences with regard to this concept exist in this region and will help to bring different stakeholders together, enter into dialogue and chart a new course of action.
