Promoting Health and Literacy for Women’s Empowerment, the third publication in a research study series on literacy and women’s empowerment published by the UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning (UIL), is now available in French.

Two-thirds of the world’s 759 million adults who cannot read or write a simple sentence are women. This paper identifies best practices of literacy programmes from all world regions that comprise health and gender equality. The literacy programmes included in this publication can also be found on the UNESCO Effective Literacy and Numeracy Practices Database (LitBase).
