Report of the International Forum on Greater Accessibility of Adult Learning through New Technologies-but how?

The Fifth International Conference on Adult Learning, held in Hamburg, Germany in July 1997, emphasized that “efforts need to be made to ensure greater access to and participation in the means of communication for all cultures and social groups.” This online forum was organized to respond to this need. It was a concrete way to contribute to policy development on accessibility issues related to the use of technologies in adult learning.

Annual report 1998-1999: UNESCO Institute for Education

This year, the UNESCO Institute for Education will, once more, have developed many research programmes, welcomed trainees, organized seminars, published numerous books, consulted and listened to educational policy-makers, and much, much more, not forgetting all of the follow-up to the Fifth International Conference on Adult Education. All these activities are described in this new annual report.

World trends in adult education research: report

Following a decision of the General Conference of UNESCO (26 C/5 01334), the UNESCO Institute for Education was asked to produce, in cooperation with Member-States as well as with other cooperation agencies, an analysis of world trends in educational research on adult education. The objective was to strengthen the impact of educational research on the development of adult education and adult basic education, and to assess the present and possible contribution of universities and other research centres to such development.
