Mandates
The Directorate for Lifelong Learning aims to design a national strategy in lifelong learning Lift the barriers for participation in adult learning so that the overall volume of participation is increased Address the imbalances in participation in order to achieve a more equitable state of affairs Improve the quality and monitoring of adult learning Another mandate is to ensure the efficiency and visibility in adult learning by increasing the possibility for them to gain a higher qualification Other responsibilities of the Directorate are: to nurture the creative and performing arts and to offer undergraduate and postgraduate studies
Policy Issues
Currently, we are working on policy issues regarding: Functional Literacy and Numeracy Improving the participation in cultural expression Validation of all courses offered by the Directorate In the very near future, we shall start working on a policy programme on training the trainers (i.e the Adult Educators).
