Educational policy in the field of pre-primary, school and higher education, and vocational education and training, integration of children with special educational needs in educational system, making the school a more attractive territory for the students, improving teacher's prestige and social status, consolidation of the school network Elaboration of the List of Professions in VET in cooperation with the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy Participation in the elaboration of the state educational requirements for acquisition of a qualification in a given profession (standards) Managing a system of 458 vocational secondary schools, 5 vocational schools and 23 vocational colleges with enrolment after secondary education completed Maintenance and up-to-dating of the List of the Regulated professions in the Republic of Bulgaria in cooperation with the other ministries and stakeholders

Improvement of the legislation in the field of pre-primary, school and higher education, and vocational education and training, meeting the European trends Elaboration of strategic documents setting the Bulgarian priorities in these fields: National LLL Strategy (2008-2013) stressing on the further development of key-competences, School and Pre-school Education Development National Programme (2006-2015), defining equal access to education and high-quality and efficiency of education, National Strategy for Continuing Vocational Education (2005-2010) on the priorities related to the development of continuing vocational education within the life long learning context Opening the education system to the world through mobility enhancement Implementing key competences in the educational area in order to enhance students' capacity for LLL, creativity and innovation Improving the quality of teacher education developing more competence-centered approaches to teaching. Introducing a differentiated teacher pay model, developing a career development model for teachers, qualification activities including in-service training, training in new subject, ICT and foreign languages Developing the Bulgarian educational policy among Bulgarians abroad Cooperation for development: scholarships granted by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Science to foreign students from countries non-members of the European Union
