Mandates

Vision: CSI – as a flexible, modern, mobile university unit of sustainable development what provides studies of high quality in close cooperation with Klaipeda University departments, also other universities from Lithuania and abroad, social partners from governmental sector, labour market, NGOs and business life. Mission: Referring to the world modern educational tendencies and implementing the life long learning policy, CSI organizes and develops flexible systems of initial and continuing vocational training. CSI carries out the following functions of continuous learning: Professional assessment, Qualification improvement, Primary vocational training (for adults), Consecutive and non-consecutive studies, Scientific research in sphere of andragogy (adult education), Development of interactive medium and infrastructure for LLL (life long learning) strategy.

Policy Issues

In-service training activities for civil servants, health care practitioners, sport trainers, pedagogues from all kinds of education institutions; In close cooperation with the Klaipeda Labor Exchange Office provision of 6 training programs for unemployed people: basic of computer use, accountant, secretary-referent, etc., also oriented towards integration of the non-native speakers (mostly Russians) into society; The scientific research of the Andragogue Department is focused on the basic elements of adult education such as educational needs, aims and content, learning participants, methods, means, etc., also on the functions of Andragogy: theoretical, practical and prognostic. Theoretical function of Andragogy allows analyzing, defining and explaining the adult education process, phenomenon, constructions; practical function – to prepare andragogic and competencies' technology, recommendations; prognostic function – to forecast the mechanism of adult education and development of the whole system; Validation and assessment of the competencies. Participation in European Qualification Framework improvement through the EC funded project "EQF PRO"

Policy Outcomes

In service training activities: Certification for educators; In-service training courses for various professionals; For public officials; For health care professionals; For sport instructors; For driving instructors; For educators (pre-primary, primary, secondary education, leaders of education institutions); For university lecturers; Adult vocational training. Establishment of the Andragogy department. The main principles of the Andragogy Department: Cooperation with other universities, colleges, structures in fields of business and service, Balance in the spheres of fundamental and applied researches, Safeguarding of interdisciplinary ties, Openness to the region enterprises and individuals seeking for the competitiveness in Andragogy, Matching the perspectives of the region.
