Policy Issues

LLL Division coordinates the activities of the state authority administration bodies of the Slovak republic in the organization of the lifelong learning. Executes implementation of the lifelong learning (LLL) / lifelong guidance strategy, manages EU matters in the field of LLL and lifelong guidance, ensures the accreditation of non-formal education programmes. General Director ensures and coordinates Slovakia´s participation in the EU educational programmes.He is also responsible for the quality assurance of non-formal education and for good operation of the sector coordination group for EU matters. The LLL Division under the heading of Mr Sloboda follows and evaluates the priorities of the EU Council Chairmanship and participates and assists in drawing and proposing the legal acts, the strategies and the concept documents of the EU in the field of education and training.

Policy Outcomes

On the 1st of December 2009 the Government of the Slovak Republic adopted the Act on Lifelong Learning which should create such an environment where a citizen will be able to acquire and deepen his/her qualification during his/her lifetime as it will be required by the labour market. This Act regulates: Accreditation of Non-formal education Rules and procedures for verification and validation of Non-formal education outcomes focused on acquisition of qualification National Qualifications Framework Structure Establishment of the Information System of the Non-formal Education System of Monitoring and Prognosing of Educational Needs of Non-formal education Control of compliance of accreditation conditions In accordance with adopted Recommendation on the European Qualifications Framework for lifelong learning, Slovakia is on the beginning of the process of creating National Qualifications Framework (NQF). NQF covers and equalizes all forms of Lifelong Learning. NQF acts as a bridge between the requirements of the labour market and the lifelong learning.
